"It is not light that we need, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake." ~ Frederick Douglass
info:

New Hungarian musician Balazs Hagymasi AKA Hagyma (meaning 'onion') debuts with a special live jazz/drum & bass crossover track that expands upon the label's musical repertoire: 'Thunder At Night.' Special music needs special releases, so this time, presented on a 4-track single, we can enjoy this cinematic, moody, key-lead ballad in different interpretations.
UK's funky drummer/studio master Macc returns to the production fold for remix duties and lends his trademark beats on a smoothly tight drumfunk edit. Label boss ICR's deep, yet funk-fuelled mix comes with a 'storytelling' formula he's production is noticeable for. To round out the release, Faalb presents his version's take on the original idea by expanding the elements to form a slower-paced, more gentle electronic remix that we could call 'IDM.'

Same New Song / Sinking Again

artist: ICR
title: Same New Song / Sinking Again
label: Modern Urban Jazz
catalogue: MJAZZDIGI009
format: digital download
date: 08/2008
country: UK

info:

Hot on the heels of brand new releases on various labels, ICR debuts on the legendary drum & bass veteran, Tony Justice's (Moving Shadow, Partisan, Creative Wax, Recordings Of Substance, Shadow Records, Hydrogen Dukebox, etc) relaunched MJAZZ label! Following the label's ethos Justice picked up two of ICR's deepest, musical tracks that represents modern urban jazz.
Same New Song is a brand new, fresh cut (and his first tune in nine months!) with chopped up breaks, heavy bass and lush piano chords; Sinking Again is like a follow-up to his new 12" Almost There (on Influence), keeping the monotonous, cinematic vibe.

Almost There / Somebody Else

artist: ICR
title: Almost There / Somebody Else
label: Influence
catalogue: INFLUGB003
format: 12" vinyl
date: 08/2008
country: UK

info:

Continuing on the deep vibe, the third release on Aaron Jay's Influence Records sees Hungarian genius ICR producing something very special. 'Almost There' already has a cult following after being showcased on Marcus Intalex's Redbull Academy podcast last year. Its moody vibes, attacking drums and film score samples make this a dance floor favourite with the likes of Aaron Jay, D-Bridge, Survival, Minotaur, Sinistarr, Mix Master Doc and Flight.

Hitting the flip is 'Somebody Else' which is pure vibes. ICR again demonstrates his unique blend of sound scapes, textures and one off sounds which combined create an emotionally charged but heavy piece of drum and bass. A firm favourite with Lynx, Naibu, Eveson, D-Bridge, Kasra and Soul Intent.
